On Sept. 4th, the Roadrunner Food Bank hosted a food security forum for New Mexico’s gubernatorial candidates. When asked about improving access to food in rural communities by KUNM’s Megan Kamerick, Deb Haaland (D) supported mobile grocery stores modeled after a program in San Felipe Pueblo. Republican candidate Gregg Hull, who was unable to attend the forum but had a pre-recorded interview play in his stead, suggested expanding a system of food banks to transport food into rural areas.
