Did you know that “rogue” Open AI agents tried to hack UNM’s library back in May? They failed. But it’s leading to new proposals for statewide regulations on AI companies. On Oct. 1, Attorney General Raúl Torrez proposed legislation with state Rep. Linda Serrato (D-Santa Fe) that would require transparency, audits, and reports to the state when AI companies test new models. The proposal would also allow for the attorney general to sue for penalties if companies making more than $500 million violate the legislation.
