The NM Supreme Court just delivered a massive victory for critics of Project Jupiter, a massive AI data center for Oracle and OpenAI being built in southern New Mexico. The court unanimously decided on Aug. 23 that the data center’s air quality and water usage permit processes should be temporarily halted. Mariel Nanasi, executive director and senior attorney at New Energy Economy explained to Courier New Mexico about how the project had been fast-tracked and why this decision from the NM Supreme Court matters now.
