At a Santa Fe city council meeting on July 29, community members called on councilors to establish “ICE-free” zones across the city.
The designation would prohibit Immigration and Customs Enforcement from using public spaces and city property for operations.
Earlier this year, Albuquerque passed a similar ordinance banning federal law enforcement from utilizing city facilities. While several residents voiced strong support during public comment, the council currently has no plans to bring a resolution to a vote.
