New Mexico Attorney General Raúl Torrez accused the Trump administration and Attorney General Todd Blanche of “stonewalling an active criminal investigation” into Jeffrey Epstein’s ties to the state. Torrez, a former federal prosecutor, said requests like New Mexico’s for federal investigative records were routinely honored by the Justice Department in the past. Torrez made the remarks alongside Rep. Teresa Leger Fernández as they promoted new legislation aimed at giving state attorneys general and Epstein survivors a clearer path to obtain records from the DOJ and take the department to court if access is denied.
